Dr. Bobby Manning proudly serves as the Senior Pastor of the First Baptist Church of District Heights. Under his leadership, the church has grown significantly in number as well as local and global impact. Dr. Manning is widely considered a “pastor of the community” as he leads FBCDH to continued service to the physical and spiritual needs of the residents of the Metropolitan DC area.

In response to God’s call to ministry at the young age of 16, Dr. Manning immediately sought out the necessary training to sharpen his ministerial gifting. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree (B.A.) in Religion from Campbell University, a Master of Theology degree (Th.M.) from Dallas Theological Seminary and a Doctor of Ministry degree (D.Min) from Regent University. While matriculating Dr. Manning received several awards and distinctions, including the Reuben S. Connor Award from Dallas Seminary, which honors the student with exemplary study of and ministry to the African-American Community.

Dr. Manning was licensed to the gospel ministry and ordained at the First Baptist Church of Glenarden (FBCG) by his mentor and spiritual covering, Pastor John K. Jenkins, Sr. While at FBCG, he served as Special Assistant to the Pastor and Young-Adult Pastor.

God has allowed Dr. Manning’s ministry to extend across the U.S. and overseas. A strong teacher of the Scriptures, he has also served as an adjunct professor at institutions such as Washington Bible College and Bethel Seminary.

Dr. Manning is a native of the Washington, D.C. area where he and his wife LaVera currently reside with their three sons Levi, Reuben and Joseph.
